Learn how to register for Winter Session. The registration process is different for current students and students who want to enroll through Open University.
Current Students
Web Registration for current mini传媒 students begins Wednesday, October 8.
mini传媒 students can register for Winter Session classes in advance using Mymini传媒. Log into your Mymini传媒 to check your registration appointment. Before enrolling in a class, you must meet any required course prerequisites.
If you missed the advance web registration period, you may register online at Mymini传媒 on the first day of class with a permission number(s).
Beginning Monday, January 5, all students must use a with instructor, department chair and CPGE Associate Dean signatures to register.
Please review the following information if it applies to you.
- Wait Listed Students
The waitlist shall be prioritized for graduating seniors who have a graduation application on file for Spring, Summer and Fall 2025; and spring 2025.
If you have been placed on the waitlist, check your Mymini传媒 periodically to check your status. After you are enrolled, see calendar for payment deadline.
- Students With a Disability
Students with disabilities needing support services for classes (such as interpreting, test accommodations or note-taking) should contact the . You can call the Accessible Education Center at 408-924-6000, e-mail aec-info@sjsu.edu or visit www.sjsu.edu/aec.
- Repeating a Class
First-Time Repeat
You may enroll online through your Mymini传媒 from October 15 through December 1. Starting December 2, you must email the Office of the Registrar at registrar@sjsu.edu for enrollment. Include your name, ID#, 5-digit class number, subject, course number, and section number in the email. Beginning on the first day of winter instruction, a permission number will be requiredRepeating for the Second Time or More
If you are repeating a class more than twice, starting December 2, submit the repeat a course more than 2 times petition. Be sure to follow all instructions. - Graduate Student
Graduate students enrolled in an mini传媒 graduate program can register for winter courses using their Mymini传媒 account. Log into your Mymini传媒 to check your registration appointment. Before enrolling in a class, check to make sure you meet any required course prerequisites.
Open University
Class registration for Open University students begins on Wednesday, October 15.
Registration for the Winter Session for Open University begins after registration for matriculated mini传媒 students and is not guaranteed. The enrollment limit for Winter Session is 4 units.
Classes are listed as either a waitlist class or an instructor consent class. See our OU FAQ in more detail.
Once registration opens, enroll in your class(es) via DocuSign Open U registration form. Have your instructor add you to the waitlist if the class is full. Permission numbers are not necessary for form submissions.
Must have GAPE office approval for 200+level classes. See our graduate student webpage for more information.

The registration process is different for first-time Open University students, returning students, and post-graduate/high school students. Review the following information that applies to you.
First Time Open University Students
- First time with no mini传媒 ID
You must submit a . Your account and registration will be set up by the Registrar鈥檚 Office.
Please refer to the first-time user login guide and how to access your gmail guide when logging into your accounts for the first time.
- First time and have recently attended mini传媒
Get your account ready. Log into Mymini传媒 starting the first day of registration to the last day to add (Jan. 6th, 2026), and choose Winter 2026 to activate the term. Follow the instructions in our video tutorial. If you have issues accessing your student account, you can reset your password or contact the IT Help Desk at ithelpdesk@sjsu.edu.
- Recently DisqualifiedAs your first Open University semester, the Registrar Office will set up your account. Please refer to your DQ email from the Registrar Office for more details. You will have to wait until you have received an email from the Registrar Office before you can start enrolling in classes.
Returning Open University Students
- Recently enrolled in a previous term
Get your account ready. Starting the first day of the term, log into Mymini传媒 and follow these self activation steps to activate your account. After activating your account, you can enroll in your class starting from the first day of the term until the deadline to add.
If you have issues accessing your student account, you can reset your password or contact the IT Help Desk at ithelpdesk@sjsu.edu.
- No recent enrollment

- Repeating a class
First-Time Repeat
- You may enroll online through your Mymini传媒 from October 23 through December 1. Starting October 29, you must email the Office of the Registrar at registrar@sjsu.edu for enrollment. Include your name, ID#, 5-digit class number, subject, course number, and section number in the email. Beginning on the first day of winter instruction, a permission number will be required
Repeating for the Second Time or More
- If you are repeating a class more than twice, starting October 29, submit the repeat a course more than 2 times petition.
Post-Graduate and High School Students
- Post-baccalaureate/Graduate StudentsPost-baccalaureate/graduate students must submit a . Your account and registration will be set up by the Registrar鈥檚 Office.
- High School StudentsHigh school students interested in taking classes at mini传媒 during the winter and summer semesters will follow the registration instructions for first-time OU students (if this is their first time) and returning OU student (if they have attended OU previously before).
